This is an early buckle from around the Civil War. It was dug and only cleaned with a tooth brush. There are signs of some of the gold still on the buckle. The buckle measures 1 and a quarter inches by the same (1 1/4 by 1 1/4 inches). There are two letters on each side of the front of the buckle. It is tough to determine if they say C. H. or C.G. There is also a 3 starts (very small) on the front of the buckle. This buckle was dug in Pennsylvania many years ago. Would clean up better if one would take to the time to clean it. There is some surface erosion on the buckle but is very superficial, additionally there is some green from being in the ground for a hundred or more years.
