J. Millar &Sons, Glasgow Brass Button
This is a dug brass button which has been slightly cleaned. The black paint still shows on the front. As seen by the button it was made in Glasgow which is notably in old Scotland now the United Kingdom. The literature offers possibly a James Millar and Sons, ship builders since 1747. The literature also states they were local joiners and undertakers. The button is around the civil war because it was dated to this period as other items from this local were Civil war era. The corrosion seen on the back is superficial and does not pit into the button. The back of the button still has the green patina seen so often on ancient artifacts. This button may have been an advertisement for the company or at one point the company dabbled in the button business.
